Honda Challenge at Thunderhill
The 2011 race season kicked off with our first event at Thunderhill Raceway. For this year, we decided to mix it up a bit and utilize two cars with alternating drivers. In addition to the Acura TSX, we will also campaign a Spec Miata this season. For this event, Telly will pilot the Acura TSX and Andrie will run in the highly competitive Spec Miata race.
In Round 1 warm-up and qualifying, Telly was cited for sound violations in the TSX with sound exceeding 105 dbs and had to retire for the day since we did not have a quiet muffler or backup exhaust at the track. Andrie on the other hand recorded slow lap times as he got to the grid late and the session was filled with yellow flags. However, in the race, Andrie made up some time and finished 7th after starting in the 19th spot. This was Andrie’s first time driving a Spec Miata since he finished 3rd in his last and only Spec Miata race almost 7 years ago.

In Round 2 of the race weekend, Telly was able to pilot the TSX to a 1st place finish in HC1. Andrie, on the other hand, started 23rd out of 30th in an inverted grid, and he smartly worked his way through the field during a one-hour race and finished an impressive 4th out of 30 cars after chasing former Pro Spec Miata Champion Barry Hartzel around the track.
Our next event will be the Honda Challenge weekend at Willow Springs Raceway in May.
