Hartanto Finds Himself on the Front Row of the Grid North of the Border

The drivers of the Bimmerworld Racing No. 81 BMW 328i, Andrie Hartanto and Tyler Cook managed to fight the chaotic conditions and emerge unscathed at Watkins Glen, however their finishing grid position left much to be desired. The following race was held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport), a track that Hartanto had never driven before. Long known as a track that rewards bravery for its high speed, blind downhill turns, Hartanto picked up the track quickly and felt right at home.

In qualifying, Hartanto outdid his previous qualifying performance, putting the #81 BMW on the front row of the grid in second place.

On the opening lap of the race, Hartanto made the move to take the lead, which he held for a number of laps. The No. 81 held the lead until the order became shuffled with the faster GS-class cars working their way through the ST-class field.

Hartanto dropped down to fourth position. However not to be deterred, he fought back, working his way up to once again lead the race, which he held for the remainder of his stint. The No. 81 BMW would eventually finish in 10^th place, yet Hartanto’s performance was unquestionably a bright spot for the team.

“I’ve always been confident in my ability to run up front, however the credit goes to my teammates; Jason Briedis, James Clay, and Tyler Cooke,” Hartanto remarked. “They got me up to speed very quickly at a track I had never been to. It was surreal taking the lead, but it felt even better recapturing it and finishing my stint on top. I hope to improve my qualifying performance next at Lime Rock and get the win for the team and my longtime sponsors who have always believed in me; Supertech, QuickJack, and Performance Technic.”
